The New Orleans Pelicans had their exit interviews earlier today after the Pelicans lost to the Phoenix Suns 115-109 in-game six. One of the players that spoke to the media was Zion Williamson. As you may know, Williamson did not play a single game this season, but he could be seen showcasing some spectacular dunks in Tracksuits over the last couple of weeks.

Williamson talked about watching from the sideline and his future in New Orleans during his exit interview.

“Being real with y’all it sucks watching from the sideline, and I just want to be out there. But, seeing the potential. We got a lot of great pieces. I’m excited to get on the court with those guys,” said Williamson.

“From a physical standpoint, I definitely could have played, but my team, [myself], and the front office decided that longevity rather than rushing back.

The New Orleans Pelicans have to decide of if they want to give Williamson a five-year extension this off-season worth $200 million-plus.

“Of course. Of course. I wouldn’t be able to sign it fast enough,” Williamson said to media members on Friday before uttering some words that had to sound like music to the ears of Pelicans fans: “I can’t control rumors and how people feel about certain things, but anybody that knows me knows I want to be here.”

“Being around the guys, being in Smoothie King [Center], seeing that playoff environment,” Williamson said. “And the locker room — we have a special locker room. My first two years, it was a good locker room. But this year — I guess maybe it was the playoffs — it was more together.
