Cleveland Cavaliers big Evan Mobley has given ‘The Land’ something to talk about this season. He is averaging 15.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists this season through 13 games. Mobley is heading into Saturday night’s game against Boston has averaged 20 points over the last four games.
Last month, Lakers forward LeBron James shared that the third pick in this past draft will be a great player in this league.
“He’s going to be a damn good basketball player in this league,” James said.
“Cleveland has a good one,” James said. “They’ve done a good job over the years in the Draft, I’ll say.”
After that 113-101 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Mobley shared that he quickly adjusted to the NBA game.
“I feel like I’m getting adjusted to the NBA pretty fast,” Mobley said. “I’m catching on to a lot of things. I feel like as I play more and more games, I’m going to get better and more acclimated. I feel like I’m ahead of schedule so far.”
Speaking of the Los Angeles Lakers, Mobley compared a young Anthony Davis from Daniel Artest, Lakers champion, Metta World Peace.
“I’m going even to say it is too soon, but I think that when to compare the rookie version of Anthony Davis to Evan Mobley, it is an undeniable man. I think Evan Mobley is going to be special. I enjoy seeing his highlights and everything to as well,” said Artest.
“The guards really be doing the little switch-offs and say clear out I got him, but they can’t because Mobley can move his feet very well. That dude is nice and you got Jarrett Allen right there. Cleveland so far is shocking, but the jury is out on Cleveland because they got off to a good start like this a couple of years ago, they were 7-3 or 7-2, and then they lost 43 games and went 14-43 the rest of the way. I do like what Cleveland is doing with drafting players and developing them.”
Houston Rockets analyst, Ryan Hollins agrees with Artest.
“Yes, Evan Mobley reminds me of a rookie Anthony Davis, he’s just bigger,” said Hollins.
Before tonight’s game, former Pelicans head coach Stan Van Gundy is exciting to see the match between Jayson Tatum and Evan Mobley go at it.
“I’m excited to watch Jayson Tatum match up with Evan Mobley. I think that is the way the match-up has to go and I’m excited to see what he does with that challenge.”
The Boston Celtics have won their last four out of five games headed into tonight’s contest.
