Last week, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that Salt Lake City Stars, the affiliate of the Utah Jazz, has come to terms with Zaire Wade. The Son of future Hall Of Famer and Jazz part-owner Dwyane Wade.
In a video that the proud father shared on IG, we see Zaïre sign the contract and express his enthusiasm.
“Ohhh! There it is. Damn. Signed.”
“I feel good, I feel confident. I just signed the standard player contract for the G League. October 11, 2021. 19 years old. Yessir.”
Zaïre once played at Sierra Canyon High School in California with LeBron James’ Son, Bronny. He eventually transferred in 2020 to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. Unfortunately, much of his season was lost when he tore a ligament on his right ankle.
Wade received college offers from schools such as Toledo, South Carolina, DePaul, and Rhode Island. However, he elected to take an alternative route.
It’s fantastic news for Zaïre and the rest of the Wade. However, it has not come without any push back from the public, who think he only the opportunity because his father is part owner of the Utah Jazz.
So, of course, the Wade family has heard this public criticism and hopped on Instagram Live last week to address that criticism. During Instagram Live, Zaire shared that he wouldn’t take the opportunity for granted, and he is ready for the next step.
“100 percent,” he said.
“100 percent that I am ready. I have been preparing for this moment. I know nobody has seen it, but like you [Dwyane Wade] told me the work may go unnoticed, but the results won’t. So, I’m not tripping I’m ready.”
He added, “Hey Utah, I’m ready to get out there and get to work. This opportunity I’m going to take and run with it to the fullest.”
The NBA G League is slate to start on October 29th.
