Björk Draws Comparison To FOX’s TV Series Alter Ego’s Grimes From Will.i.am

Earlier this month, Fox has released a preview of their new series Alter Ego, which kicks off on Thursday, September 23 at 9 pm EST/8 pm CST. The network is calling “the world’s first avatar singing competition,” according to EW.com.

In this show, aspiring singers appear before a panel of celebrity judges not like themselves but in the form of a digital animation avatar and “showcasing their unique performance style via motion capture technology.”

It’s like the Masked Singer meets The Voice with a hint of The Sims, plus a hint of Black Mirror for the dystopian sci-fi vibes.

The performer will be showcasing their talents in front of a live audience and the judges’ panel of music icons such as Nick Lachey, Alanis Morissette, Will.i.am, and Grimes.

Speaking of the new series Alter Go, members of the judges’ panel were on Clubhouse in the room Tech Talk, hosted by Queens Gaming Collective’s, Co-Founder and CEO, Alisa Jacobs, and Popsugar’s Deputy Editor, Lindsay Miller.

During the conversation, Grimes gets compared to Björk from The Black Eye Peas’ Will.i.am.

“Before I met Grimes, she is my favorite new artist that’s doing it to the next level and pushing boundaries fearlessly. She is our era’s Björk. This new era’s Björk in my head, I knew how felt. The kids look at Grimes. I looked at Björk because she is different and she is fearless. She is pushing it, and there are no rules,” said Will.i.am.

“Before Björk, it was Portishead, and Grimes is like that for this new generation. So, to rock with Grimes and to see how deep she gets when she speaks, she is not pretending. You can tell when people are like pretending to be cool and different, and then they speak and sound regular. She is a true artist!”

Make sure you tune into Alter Ego on Thursday at 9 pm EST/8 pm CST on Fox.
