It has been 13 years since the Boston Celtics added their seventeenth championship banner and Paul Pierce was named Finals MVP in 2008. The 2021 Hall of Fame Class member gave us one of the funniest memories in NBA Finals history during that series.
During game three of the 2008 NBA Finals, Pierce was guarding the late Kobe Bryant. In the third quarter, he went down holding his knee after a shot from Bryant. Pierce was then transported off the floor and placed in a wheelchair, where he was taken into the locker room. About a minute later in the game, he bounced off the tunnel and on the sidelines, quickly back into the game.
The pain he suffered and the way he was able to return so quickly were not enough. But Pierce revealing this detail has so much meaning now and puts it in an appropriate context. Also, considering the way somebody was behind him when he was taken out of court and the suspicions the person was preventing viewers from seeing Pierce’s backside.
Two years ago, the former ESPN NBA analyst shared that he had a confession to make, “I just had to go to the bathroom.”
However, Pierce omitted whether he had already pooped himself and tried to hide it, which is something that people have long speculated.
Well, on Thursday evening, Pierce finally addressed the situation on Clubhouse In the Paul Pierce Hall of Fame.
“Say you are playing tennis, golf and you s*** your pants, what are you doing to do? Are you going to keep playing, or are you going to go the bathroom? If I really s*** my pants and I really kept playing, come on, who does that? So, I played for another five to ten minutes, and then I pretended to hurt so I could go to the bathroom? Get the f*** out of here. Y’all crazy as hell! said Pierce.”
“I want people to know that no way that happened on the court. I know how to control my bowel.”
Pierce will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this weekend as a part of the 2021 Class.
