We are almost a month and a half removed from the Milwaukee Bucks beating the Phoenix Suns in six games. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished game six with 50 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, and five blocks. He was then named Finals MVP, and as we all remember, him going to Chick-fil-A and order a 50 piece the next morning.
Despite winning the championship, the Bucks received a lot of pushback because they beat numerous teams with injuries along away. On Monday afternoon, Ryan Hollins on Instagram Live with Brendan Haywood and Scott O’Gallagher.
During their conversation, Hollins shared that he felt the Bucks championship was Fugazi because be teams with injuries.
“Everybody got hurt; I don’t buy it the same way. If you want to ask me, it was Fugazi, okay ?” Said Hollins.”
“I don’t buy into it, everybody was hurt. Everybody was hurt, y’all know what time it is. Don’t act any different. Don’t act different when I get on the Live and I say it because it is Ryan Hollins. Everybody said they were injured. The Nets missed two stars and LeBron wasn’t there.”
However, Brendan Haywood disagreed, ” I give them a lot of credit for winning a championship this year. Simply because of this, there has been plenty of injuries in NBA history that have led to teams winning championships,” said Haywood.
“We can’t now of a sudden say, the Bucks team doesn’t get their credit. When Kawhi won his championship with Toronto they crowned him… Golden States’ first championship, they did not face a healthy point guard the whole playoffs. And in the NBA Finals, Kyrie [Irving] goes down with a broken knee cap, and Kevin Love got hurt two series before that.”
We are a month and roughly 24 days away from the Bucks raising their second championship banner in franchise history when they take on the Nets on opening night.
