Two years ago, Khris Middleton was selected for his first All-Star game. At the time, the Bucks forward averaged  18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 44.1 from the field, 37.8 from behind the arc, and 83.7 from the free-throw line per game.

After it was announced that Middleton made the Eastern Conference, Dallas reporters were looking to ask him about the selections. Still, he voiced that he wanted us to interview his teammates instead. Former NBA great Gilbert Arenas was asked about Middleton’s response, and Arenas shared it was because he knew he was an all-star.

“With that being said, he deserves an All-Star for understanding he wasn’t one. You see how that works, knowing that he personally didn’t deserve it because he was having a bad year. He knew it, so he gave credit to his teammates. If it wasn’t for them winning, he wouldn’t have made it. Now to me, he is an All-Star for understanding that,” Arenas said.

Middleton was asked about Arenas’ comments but declined.

Recently Middleton has become a champion with the Milwaukee Bucks, and it was only right to speak with Arenas again to get his thoughts on that achievement.

“He actually played well in the playoffs. He actually plays well when Greek [Giannis Antetokounmpo] misses games. He puts his team on his back. Sometimes when your star player is there it is hard to see who is the second-best player or who is the third-best player,” said Arenas.

‘”Sometimes their stats don’t show it, especially when are seeing someone having a bad three-point year free-throw year. Just an all-around bad statistical year, but it makes an all-star because of the team’s wins. You kind of question it a little bit. He is well-deserving of all the accolades he has gotten so far.”
