The Phoenix Suns will be playing in their first NBA Finals series for the first time since 1993. The third-year pro out of the University of Arizona, DeAndre Ayton, is a huge reason why this postseason.

He averaged 14.8 points, 11.75 rebounds, and 8.75 assists per game through 16 games this postseason.

Former NBA veteran Jared Jeffries agrees. Jefferies was recently on the Clubhouse app and shared his thought on the Suns rising star.

“You have to give so much credit to DeAndre Ayton as we know big men develop slower than guards a lot of the time, and I think he and Marvin Bagley were looked down upon because the two guards behind them [Luka Doncic and Trae Young] are having some phenomenal careers thus far. But, give a lot of credit to that kid [DeAndre Ayton] because I know he was such a lazy kid when I saw him coming up through the grassroots circuit,” said Jeffries.

“And I thought his biggest setback was going to be you watch him play, he has 40 and 20, and the next game, he has 15 and 10. But, he was a superior athlete and size at that time. So, I give that kid some credit for continuing to work and really impacting big in the league.”

Game one of the NBA Finals between the Bucks and Suns will be on Tuesday in Phoenix. The game can be seen on ABC at 9:00 pm EST.
