Matt Barnes was really puzzled by Kwame Brown’s rant about him.
An excited, hookah-toking Kwame Brown had a ton to say about NBA veterans Gilbert Arenas, Stephen Jackson, and Matt Barnes for speaking ill of him on the recent ‘All The Smoke podcast.’
Brown attacked Barnes, calling him “Becky with good hair,” and laughed at him, labeling him as “emotional” for Derek Fisher stealing his ex-wife, Gloria Govan.
If you are unfamiliar with the situation between Barnes and Fisher, they were teammates on the Los Angeles from 2010-12. However, a couple of years ago, their relationship turned violent after Barnes found out Fisher was dating his ex-wife.
It all started when Fisher failed to tell Barnes that he had been dating Govan. Barnes stated that he had no problem with the relationship itself, but he was furious that Fisher was spending a lot of time in his old home, which he paid for, and things went down hill from there.
It all started when Barnes was driving with Gloria and their two children in Gloria’s car.
They were divorced at the time but shared a ride that day because it was the easiest way for Barnes to see his children at the time. When they made a stop and Gloria was the last one back to the car. When she answered her phone, and the call was automatically picked up on Bluetooth from her car.
“I was like ‘Yo, I fucken know this voice’,” Barnes later shared with VladTV.
“I hear ‘baby I miss you, I can’t wait to see you again,’ and I’m like, ‘what the f*ck? That’s Derek’s voice’.”
Per Barnes, Gloria was shaken when she realized the entire call had been playing in the car.
Right before she hung up, Barnes jumped in and intervened. Barnes told him, “Derek the next time I see you, I’m going to beat the shit out of you.”
On Monday, Barnes finally got some time to respond back to Brown, stating that he should be mad at Michael Jordan for believing in him in the first place.
Jordan drafted Brown with the number one pick in the 2001 Draft ahead of players such as Pau Gasol, Tony Parker, Tyson Chandler, Joe Johnson, Gilbert Arenas, Zach Randolph, and Gerald Wallace. It has been a discussion that Jordan has been made fun of for almost two decades now.
