In 2015, the Seattle Seahawks lost to the England Patriots in heartbreak fashion. Malcolm Butler intercepted a pass at the goal line to seal the Super Bowl XLIX victory for the Patriots.

After the play, Cris Collinsworth was not a fan of the play call by the Seahawks brass.

“I’m sorry, I can’t believe the call. You have Marshall Lynch in the backfield. You got a guy that is borderline unstoppable in this part of the field. I can’t believe the call,” said Collinsworth

KJ Wright was a member of that Seahawks team who lost to the Patriots in 2015 and had a front-row seat to Butler’s interception on the goal line. He was a recent guest on The Leisure Time Podcast with Ivan McLennan.

During the episode, Wright asked to share his thoughts before and after the interception.

“Once Jermaine Kearse made that catch, I was like, oh, we are about to score. Before the play happened, I screamed out, why are we in [the] shotgun. We were in the shotgun on like the two-yard line. I was confused on why we were in shotgun, and then the play happened. The play happened so fast, and it was so unreal, and how he made that play. I was just stunned. That he could even get that pick by literally running through another man and catch the ball,” said Wright.

“First of all, it was a horrible play call. Second of all, for him to make that play unreal. That’s probably the only time that play has been made in an NFL game of that caliber. It’s the greatest play in Super Bowl History.”

The Seahawks have not been the same since that 2015 Super Bowl against the Patriots.
