It has been seven seasons since the Seattle Seahawks blew out the Denver Broncos Super Bowl XLVIII 43-8 in 2014. Malcolm Smith was named the Super Bowl MVP. The Seahawks were able to capture their first and only Super Bowl thus far.
One of the Super Bowl team members, KJ Wright, was recently on The Leisure Time Podcast with host Ivan McLennan and was asked what was special about the Vince Lombardi Trophy run.
” From a personal standpoint, that run was not that special for me because I broke my foot that year. I broke my foot, and I wasn’t able to enjoy the playoffs. I wasn’t able to enjoy the end of the season, beating the Niners and the Saints,” said KJ Wright.
“The only thing I enjoyed was the Super Bowl and beating the Sheriff [Peyton Manning]. I started that game, but I told myself I could not miss this game. So, I was in overtime with the rehab, and that was the best football day of my life.”
According to Matt Verderame of SBNation, Wright broke his foot during the Seahawks’ 19-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and had to miss six weeks of action.
Wright was able to make it back in time to help deliver the city of Seattle their first Super Bowl in franchise history and help establish the Legion of Boom as the Defensive of the decade in the 2010s.
