The CW’s hit series “In The Dark” is based in Chicago, Illinois. The show is about a young blind woman named Murphy Mason, who is trying to solve her friend’s murder. Mason is played by Perry Mattfeld, who is also known for her role as Mel in Showtime’s Shameless.
It was later revealed that Dean Riley was the one who strangled Tyson because he was afraid that Parker was going to disclose his connection to him to another drug dealer. Dean didn’t mean to kill Tyson, but strangled him in rage when Tyson decided to tell Riley’s competition that wanted him dead.
It was later revealed that Riley is working with Nia Bailey [Nicki Micheaux], a Chicago crime boss that Murphy Mason ended up dealing with to keep Parish alive. Nia Bailey was only booked for just a couple of episodes. However, soon after Nicki Micheaux started playing her that would quickly change.
During an interview with Corinne Kingsbury, the creator, as well as an executive producer of “In The Dark”, shared that her favorite part about playing Nia was, “It was fun to be bad,” said Micheaux.
I recently spoke to Micheaux about how she was able to turn her stent on “In The Dark” from just one or two episodes to appearing in 18 episodes over the first two seasons.
“It’s a blessing. I didn’t do anything other than showing up and did the work, and they liked it,”said Micheaux on the Catching The Wave Podcast. “It has been a wonderful working relationship, and it was so much fun to be bad. So, for me, it was really fun to dig in and play a gangster-like that, and you can binge-watch it on Netflix right now.”
The filming of the third season of “In The Dark” has been delayed due COVID-19 pandemic and is slated to hit television in the mid-season meaning a spring 2021 or later premiere, according to Tvline.com’s Matt Webb Mitovich.
