It has been a little over a year since WWE Superstar Paige announced her retirement from in-ring competition on April 9th, 2018. She would make her announcement the night after WrestleMania due to an injury to her neck that she suffered at a house show on December 27th, 2017 in a six-woman tag team match. The referee would have to call the match after Paige took a kick from Sasha Banks in the neck area.
Since officially making her retirement from in-ring competition, Paige transitioned into a general manager role on Smackdown Live just a day after telling the world her intentions to retire. Her role as general manager of Smackdown that allowed her to stay on television to help promote her upcoming film at the time “Fighting with My Family,” which is based on her life story. Paige would remain in her position as general manager until December 17th, 2018, when the McMahon family decided to go in a different direction will programing. Paige would stay on as a valet for WWE Superstars Asuka and Kairi Sane.
Sonya Deville, who was a part of the group Absolution along with Mandy Rose and Paige recently shared that if Paige could wrestle one more match she would like it to be a falls count anywhere.
“I would say falls count anywhere match because Paige is like a secret brawler. She can get down and nasty. I think if we had a falls count anywhere match, we would have some vicious strike exchanges,” Deville told me.
