Portland Trailblazers’ point guard Damian Lillard has made some headlines this off-season. The latest news being Lillard just signed a multi-year extension worth $196 million per Sean Meagher of the Oregonian.

“I think we’ve built something special,” said Lillard. “It’s real genuine. The environment we’ve created is something I’ve been a part of and something I want to continue to be a part of.”

“Our culture is driven by a lot of people, but it wouldn’t mean anything if Dame wasn’t a part of it,” head coach Terry Stotts added.

It was also announced this offseason, that Lillard will be a part of the cast of Space Jam 2 along with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Diana Taurasi, and Nneka Ogwumike and that project is slated to be released July 16, 2021. Lillard also had a battle rap back and forth with Sacramento Kings’ forward Marvin Bagley, that sparked singles such as,  BYE, BYE, and MARVINNNNNN!!!??? by Dame, and Checkmate, No Debate by Marvin Bagley on NBA Draft Night.

With lyrics such as, “This boy done called my name Haha. Amateur bars man! Grown man bars is something you have to deal with, so all that elaborating, fabricated ain’t going to equal up to this real S***. The things that we do for the glitz and the glamorous follow backs, like pics from your camera.  Was about to pass, because you’re still in a Pamper, bruh/And I never seen Floyd spar with amateurs, so this is the one and only time I’m picking up the phone. I’m the type to keep receipts until left alone, I was raised to keep the family feuds at home. On the set, I’m going to teach you how to set the tone. Where I’m from big bank take little bank. I’m a couple hundred million its a field day don’t respect it, it is not an issue to check it, never really competed but you boys getting reckless. I can tell you this isn’t really what you wanted though. Should have of DMed me again what you want to know? Say I’m lying I’ll put it out for the public,” said Dame Dolla on the track MARVINNNNNN!!!???.

“I said your name a couple of weeks ago, you been in a casket, and now you tryna rise up, I see you fakin’ a passion, I’m finna turn this Dame Dolla to chump change. “Adidas did send some Dames, but I thought they was wack, as soon as I opened the box, I sent them s–ts right back.,” said Bagley on Checkmate.

Someone that is no stranger to rap battles and beef is hip hop artist, actor, producer, director, and writer Ice Cube. Cube is known for his writing, producing, and directing projects such as the Friday series, Ride Along, but before started making films, he was known as one of the founding members of the group NWA other members include Eazy E, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, and DJ Yella. However, even though Cube wrote the lyrics to approximately half of both Straight Outta Compton, and Eazy-E’s solo album, Eazy-Duz-It, but due to his contract, he was only compensated with $32,000, and wasn’t an official member of the group. Ice Cube would later decide to leave the NWA and start his own venture (Lench Mob Records) and sued NWA manager Jerry Heller (Ruthless records) privately, and it was settled out of court. Ice Cube would later release his first solo album entitled “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted,” and had no mention of his former groupmates. However, Ice Cube would go on the offense on his second project the “Death Certificateafter NWA released ”100 Miles and Runnin”, “Black Korea,” with “No Vaseline”.

Damian Lillard, however, can hold his own on the microphone, but the question is would Cube be willing to step foot in the booth with the NBA All-Star?

Earlier this week Cube gave me his answer during a conference call interview for The Big 3

I’m always ready for a hot sixteen and always have one cocked and loaded. So, if Dame has something that is good that he’s ready to drop and want to do it with your boy? I’m always ready!

What do you think?
