“Keep My Name Out Your Mouth,”Says Lil Wayne To The Athletic’s Frank Isola

Earlier today Lil Wayne took Instagram to respond to some of the comments surrounding his sitting in on Odell Beckham Jr’s most recent interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson. During the interview, Beckham spoke candidly about his frustration with regarding the offensive scheme focusing on primarily on short yard passes that turn into big yard plays. Instead of plays that result in taking shots down the field and allowing Giants receivers to make plays. Ultimately taking a shot at his quarterback Eli Manning.

“I don’t know,” Beckham said when he was asked if there was an issue at quarterback. “Like I said, I feel like he’s not going to get out the pocket. He’s not — we know Eli’s not running it. But is it a matter of time issue? Can he still throw it, yeah, but it’s been pretty safe and it’s been, you know … cool catching shallow [routes] and trying to take it to the house. But I’m, you know, I want to go over the top of somebody.”

Eli would respond to his teammate’s comments by stating “that he doesn’t watch Lil Wayne a lot. Eli then said it was big for Odell to set the record straight with the team.

Asked about Odell’s comments, Eli cracked that he doesn’t watch Lil Wayne a lot. Eli then said it was big for Odell to set the record straight with the team.

Here’s what  Wayne said about Isola: “I’ve been hearing things like, if (Odell) wants to be taken seriously, why would he do an interview with Lil Wayne sitting next to him? … The person that said that is a reporter, journalist from New York by the name of Frank Isola. Frank, I rock with you. I actually like you, when you come on TV, I like your heavy New York, Italian whatever accent, I like the way you do your thing, you say what you want to say, you get your point across, but you mentioned my name, my name came out your mouth this time. When that happens, I’m going to fire back at you. … I don’t know much about you though. Fact is, you don’t know much about me. With that said, keep my name out your mouth.”

And he also responded to Manning’s joke:

To Eli … every time somebody bad mouths you, I’ll be the first one to say — you can ask Skip Bayless, that’s my homie, shoutout Skip — is ‘man listen, I got an uncle that was doing time that remembered seeing Eli, Archie, Peyton, Cooper, he remembers seeing them at five in the morning every other morning on the schoolyard, way before the students get there, practicing.’ I’m the first one to back you up … and here you talk about you don’t watch Lil Wayne much. That’s fine, that’s fine. I’m cool with you, I don’t care what you watch or listen to. But you know, this is hometown love, man. You ain’t gotta do me like that. I didn’t say anything bad about you.”

He went on to say the way Manning has been playing, he should listen to the rapper’s new Tha Carter V. prior to taking the field. Wayne would then turn his attention back to Isola and said the interview was edited and that he wasn’t a “yes man” while sitting next to Beckham. Wayne talked about the organic and genuine conversation that Beckham, Anderson, and himself were having that aired last week.

“But Frank, come on, I know you’re up there in New York, I know a little bit about NY, I spent a little time up there on an Ialand called Rikers Island….” – @LilTunechi on @TheFrankIsola #LilWayne pic.twitter.com/s0JGIEJa4v

Lil Wayne brought up the point that Isola was mad that he couldn’t get the sitdown opportunity to interview Beckham. There has been a lot of stories as of late that are being broken by non-mainstream media outlets or journalist away from the normal.  In which, it looks like people such as Isola have started to take notice and now they are starting voice their opinion on it.
