Rajon Rondo signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason to play with LeBron James and the young core of Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Brandon Ingram. This year, he will play with other players, including Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee.
Playing with a jam-packed roster is nothing new for Rondo from 2008- 2012. He played with three future Hall of Famers: Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce. The four made two finals appearances in 2008 & 2010, splitting both meetings with the Los Angeles Lakers. Someone else on the 2008 team saw the Celtics beat the Lakers in six games. That person is Highline Community College Alum Brian Scalabrine.
Scalabrine approves the Lakers’ signing of Rondo, according to Brandon Robinson of the Basketball Society:
“I’m excited for him, especially because he’s the smartest player I’ve ever played with,” said Brian Scalabrine. He would add, “And I think LeBron is also on that level. Both guys are brilliant basketball players who speak the same language, so I’m excited about hooking up.”
