Draymond Green Dared KD To Leave Next Summer, Which Led To Suspension

Earlier this week, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green were involved in a verbal altercation that ultimately, led to Green being suspended for a game without pay.

Chris Hayes of Yahoo Sports reported Green told Kevin Durant earlier this week: “You’re a bitch, and you know you’re a bitch.”

Hayes added that Green would later yell something to the effect, “We don’t need you. We won without you. Leave.”

According to Hayes, what led to Green suspension was him daring Kevin to leave in free agency next summer.

The incident occurred after Green and Durant’s verbal back & forth on the bench at the end of regulation against the Los Angeles Clippers.  The altercation on the court would end after Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala intervened.

The heat altercation started after Green did not pass Durant the ball in the final seconds of regulation for a possible chance to beat the Clippers.  The Clippers would go on to win in overtime 121-116.

After the game, Durant was not available to speak to the media.

According to Simon Hanning of Clutchpoint:

This really should not be an issue because both individuals have had problems in the past, but were able to put them aside to win championships in the past.

The basketball community will speculate that there is more to the incident because Kevin is a free agent this summer and will try to draw the same conclusion when both get into heat discussions moving forward.

There was a report released by Heavy last week that was a chance that, Kevin would be headed to Los Angeles to team up with LeBron James.

On Thursday, Green spoke to reporters and stated he and Durant had smooth things out:

Kevin and I spoke, we’re moving forward,”  said Green.

“It’s no secret I am an emotional player, I wear my emotions on my sleeve and I play with those same emotions. Sometimes they get the best of me and it doesn’t work to my favor. I’m gonna live with that. My resume speaks and this team’s resume speaks more so than it doesn’t. I’m never gonna change who I am, I’m gonna approach the game the way that I always do and like I said before we’ll continue to move forward.”

He added:

“What you must know is, everyone in this organization, not a player, not myself, not Kevin, not anybody else is gonna beat us,” he said.

“So if you’re one of the other 29 teams, you gotta beat us, we’re not gonna beat us,” said Green.
