Brendan Haywood wants Etan Thomas & Eddie Jordan On Podcast “I’ll Keep It All-The Way 1000”

In 2003, Eddie Jordan was hired as the new coach of the Washington Wizards, after Michael Jordan, and Doug Collins departed from the team. Jordan spent five years with the organization before being let go. During his tenure he coached both Ethan Thomas and Brendan Haywood, which neither player got along.

This past Sunday, Jordan was a guest on Etan Thomas’ podcast, “The Rematch.” During on of the segments the two discussed their time in Washington, and Jordan mentioned that ” Jared [Jeffries] and Brendan [Haywood] were different. They used to say the big three and the little two,” said Jordan.

Well Haywood caught wind of what was said on the podcast, and responded on Twitter.

I see a lot of cap in this podcast, I should have them both on my podcast so we can get the real deal. It would be entertaining for sure.

He wasn’t done there, on Wednesday night on Instagram Live and shared a more indepth response.

“I here minding my business and my boy hits me with a podcast, and it Eddie Jordan and Etan Thomas on that joint. Eddie is like Brendan [Haywood] been setting them hard screen in practice wouldn’t set them in the game,” said Haywood.

“I was like they really tried me, I was like okay. You know what? I think we should try to have Eddie Jordan or Etan Thomas on our podcast. I think it would be our best one yet because I would keep it 100 to their face.”

Haywood would later add “It’s weird because he said all this slick stuff on the podcast because I seen Eddie Jordan three times this year, he lives right around the corner. He teaches Aerobic classes at the Lifetime gym, and he was acting like he was all good.”

It has been 14 years since former Washington Wizards teammates Brendan Haywood and Etan Thomas fought each other in the locker room. Haywood was benched by then Wizards coach Eddie Jordan.

“What really happened was that after we argued and I hit him, he pushed me into the lockers,” Thomas said yesterday. “We squared off, and he grabbed my hair with both hands and wouldn’t let it go. Then, while Michael Ruffin was holding me and he had my hair, he sucker-punched me twice. That’s what really happened,” according to a 2006 Washington Times article by John N. Mitchell.

Thomas would continue, “Let me say first of all that I do not have a problem with Brendan. I have been his teammate for five years now, and we’ve been through a lot together,” Thomas said. “Secondly, let me say that I understand that he has been pretty frustrated with how things have developed for him, but handling that disappointment with a level of maturity and dignity is something that he needs to learn.

“The day that coach made the announcement he had a great practice, the best I’ve ever seen from him. That level of competition can be utilized to further motivate both of us. I understand he’s been frustrated, but disrespect is something that I simply cannot tolerate. I worked extremely hard this summer to prepare myself, and I am looking forward to a very productive season.”

Jordan wanted Haywood to show the same intensity that he showed during the preseason and training camp.

“We just want him to play with a lot of force like he has been in training camp and in the preseason,” said Jordan, who called the fight old news. “Let’s continue that and carry it into the season. That’s the kind of play that we need on a consistent basis to get to another level. We’re happy about it.”

This was not the last time about three months later it happened again. This time it was after practice.

“Bottom line, I’m not putting up with any garbage from Brendan Todd Haywood, but at the same time, I do feel bad and upset with myself for allowing him to bait me,” said Thomas.

The day after the incident occurred, Jordan was asked if the fight was a distraction for the team.

“For the moment, yes. But after everything is said and done and everything is taken care of, no,” Jordan said. “We had a morning meeting, watched film, moved on to practice and we had a very good practice today. We addressed various things at the meeting.”

Haywood shared on Thursday morning, that he reached out to Thomas to set up an episode on The Opinionated 7-Footers podcast. So, hopefully, Thomas will accept Brendan’s offer and they can put their disagreements to bed for good.
