The Seahawks Are Not Among The NFC’s Elite

When it comes to the Seahawks, they will always be in the mix mainly because of their top tier QB Russell Wilson and their future HOF head coach Pete Carroll. Coming into the year and during the first 6-8 weeks of the season, many ppl including myself, included Seattle as a NFC elite and Super Bowl favorite.

This can not be the case anymore.

Their defense is atrocious. There’s no nicer way to put it. They’re historically bad. Their pass defense is on pace to allow the most passing yards in NFL history by almost 1K yards. They are at the bottom on 3rd down defense. They are 3rd in points allowed. They lead the league in 1st downs allowed. They can’t rush the passer whatsoever. Their huge investment Jamal Adams can’t stay healthy and honestly, he hasn’t made a huge difference when on the field.

In the NFC with very good to elite offenses in the Saints, Packers, Bucs, and Cardinals, your defense cannot be dreadful like Seattle’s defense has been.

We know that defense is a problem but the offense has issues as well. Seattle is already too dependent on Russell Wilson to win every week but without any kind of run game due to Carson & Hyde being injured, Wilson has to play darn near perfect for the Seahawks to win. Both Wilson having to be MVP like and the offense being one dimensional are going to lead to turnovers.

Seattle losing 3 of the last 4 games has put them in a 3-way tie in the NFC West, while 2 of the 3 losses have been within the division. They are facing a must win Thursday night at home against division rival Arizona and their dual threat QB Kyler Murray, the team that handed Seattle their first loss of the season. If they don’t find a way to win, the division will be out of reach. Sure, I know they’ll still make the playoffs. But with a bad defense and an offense that cannot run the ball, they’ll be one and done, no matter how great Russell Wilson & Pete Carroll is.

What do you think?
