Marvin Bagley III will be entering his sophomore season in the NBA. Last season, Bagley appeared in 62 out of 82 games during his rookie season with the Sacramento Kings. In those games, the former second overall pick averaged 14.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. Earning him All-Rookie First Team honors alongside Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic, Trae Young, Deandre Ayton, and Jaren Jackson Jr.
Bagley made his presence known last season catching the attention of former Kings guard Doug Christie. Christie is now a TV color analyst with the Kings and had the opportunity to dissect Bagley’s up close. The second-year veteran reminded him of former Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh.
“We have a player on our team, Marvin Bagley, who reminds me a lot of Chris Bosh. Left-handed 6’10, 6’11 that can stretch the floor. Chris I think was interesting from the standpoint that, he went to an organization where I played and he really took off to a superstar level.
Then he went to Miami and was able to take a back seat to LeBron and Dwyane Wade, but really shine, and win himself multiple championships. I think it says a lot about him as an individual, a player, and competitor to do all of those different things at the highest level that there is,” Christie told me.
Dirk Nowitzki back in March, shared with me that Chris Bosh was a fierce competitor and a class act.
“Chris and I had some unbelievable battles, and a few of them were on the biggest stage. He was always a fierce competitor on the court and a class act off the court. His jersey getting retired in Miami was well-deserved,” Nowitzki told me.
Chris Bosh averaged 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. Bosh played 12 seasons in NBA before having to retire because of blood clouts.
As for Bagley, he has had an exciting offseason getting into a rap battle with NBA veteran Damian Lillard. After making an appearance on First Take and where Max Kellerman brought up that he was made aware Bagley could freestyle.
“it has been my opinion since then, that the best MC in the NBA is either you or Damian Lillard, but who is the best MC in the NBA,” asked Max? Bagley would respond by saying me.” and I love music, so I am going to go with myself,” said Kellerman
Kellerman would follow up by asking if Bagley would ever battle Damian Lillard?
Bagley responded, “yeah for sure.”
Lillard heard about the challenge that Bagley offered and responded on Twitter.
I won’t be on first take… but if that’s what he want … shoot https://t.co/povZmf2a3F
