Carmelo Anthony could be anywhere in the world sitting on a yacht, but instead, the future Hall of Famer is in the Lab putting in work. The former ten-time All-Star is still without an NBA team to call home.

Earlier today, Melo took part in the Black Ops Basketball runs at Lifetime Fitness in New York City. Current NBA players such as Tim Hardway Jr., Kelly Oubre Jr. Serge Ibaka, Justin Wright-Foreman, Lance Thomas, and Danny Green.

If you have been sitting under a rock all last season, Melo only played ten games for the Houston Rockets. They would decide to shut him down and then later trade him to the Chicago Bulls earlier this year.
Former All-Star Gilbert Arenas shared with me last month that he knew as soon as, he heard Melo was signing with the Rockets. He knew that the situation was going to be a disaster waiting to happen.
“I remember the reports named Houston as a possible destination for him to land. I said ‘Hell no’ don’t go there it is going to be a disaster and it is not going to work. You just for the first time in your career played with two ball-dominant players and it made you the third option. So, to go right back to a team that is going to make you again the third option is a disaster,” Arenas told me.
Instead, Arenas felt that Carmelo should have signed with the Lakers and be their closer down the stretch.
Go to the Lakers where you might come off the bench, but you are going to be the first option in the fourth quarter because that is what they are going to need from Melo. They need a 6’9 guy that can open up the floor, play your iso basketball, and that helps the rest of the Lakers. LeBron passes to everyone else, and you play iso basketball it all works.
He goes to Houston and after ten games he is gone. Melo needs to be in a position where the last five minutes of the game he is the go-to guy.  If you are not the go-to guy what are you on the court for because don’t have any other skill to be used. You are a fourth-quarter last five-minute iso guy that is your skill.
Speaking of the Lakers, their starting shooting guard for next season was guarding Carmelo Anthony in a video NBA trainer Chris Brickley posted on Instagram. In the video below you can see Carmelo taking the two time NBA Champion to school.

The Lakers haven’t given any indications that they would like to bring in Melo. Last month, Melo sat down for a one on one interview with Stephen A. Smith on First Take to clear the air. During the interview, he said that his reps have reached out to both the Lakers and the Clippers.

The Lakers might not be interested, but there is a possibility the Clippers might be. According to Sam Amico, the Clippers might want to bring Melo in to help boost their second unit. If the Clippers decided to bring Melo in it would reunite him with former teammate Paul George. The two played together for a year with the Oklahoma City Thunder 2017-2018.

“The Los Angeles Clippers are contemplating the idea of trying to sign a veteran free agent, primarily for help in reserve, and talk around the league is forward Carmelo Anthony and guard Iman Shumpert are among the names they are considering.”
