Last weekend during the NFL Draft I had the opportunity to ask Shaquem Griffin and Shaquill Griffin what type of mindset that they would bring to Seattle with the departure of veterans such as, Richards Sherman, Jeremy Lane, Michael Bennett, Jimmy Graham, Paul Richardson, and Sheldon Richardson to name a few. During their joint press conference at AT&T Stadium in Arlington TX.  Shaquill Griffin would give his thoughts first by stating “The mindset is going to stay the same. We are going to come in and work hard, and we will dedicate ourselves to everything that we have to work on.  I feel like each player within the organization must work on the things that they need to get better at than Our organization will be great.”

“Now it is time for me to step up a lot more and plan my own wait a lot more. That is the reason why I got drafted, and I am ready to take that role. I will continue to work my butt off, and I know I will have some help from my twin brother and the rest of my teams. It is going to be a team effort, and we are going to bring the rookies along too. Sherman taught me a lot, and I’m going to continue to use what the taught me, and I’m going to teach others.”

Shaquem will follow that up by saying ” I can agree to that and with me being there and having that support system from everyone in Seattle. So, it kind of cool because I am have been fortunate enough to know everyone already, and for us to be able to stay together I can get a leg up on the competition because I will have access to the full playbook. I am definitely able to pick up on new things quickly, and I feel I have a great teacher. I also, want to avoid getting fines.”

After their joint interview, I was able to catch up with Shaquill Griffin and asked him what will he miss the most about Richard Sherman being in the locker room. This what he has to say “One just his presence alone and it became easier for me to ask him anything that I was having issues with while he was in the meeting room. We were able to compare notes, and he taught me ways of how to become a great athlete, player, and person. His presence alone will be missed I am definitely staying in contact with him and pick his brain. We definitely will miss his leadership in the locker room.”

He would follow that up by giving some comments on Michael Bennett’s departure. “He is also moving on to a great organization also, but these are the guys that you create a bond with this past year was my first year, but I felt like I been a part those group of guys forever.   You must remember we have all worked out together and have been to battle together. Allowing us to create a brotherhood and it sucks to see them go, but we wish them the best. We will see them around later on, but it’s tough because we will miss their presence.”

Seattle selected Shaquem Griffin in the fifth round (141st overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft.
